Congratulations to Megan Grimm, who was welcomed into the congregation at her Adult Confirmation on July 25. David, Kyle, and Aden Grimm were received by Holy Baptism that same day. May God bless their fellowship with us!

Ladies of Beautiful Savior elected new officers at their August 10 meeting. New officers are:

Julie Blatterman      Vice-president, reporter

Mary Peters           Secretary

God bless their service! The next meeting is Tuesday, October 12 at 6:00 pm.

Library: Take a few minutes to check out the new library shelves. Many new books have been added, both for children and adults.

Worship times each Sunday are 9:30 am. with Sunday School and Bible Class for all ages at 11:00 am.

Bible Class Opportunities

Sunday Bible Class meets from 11:00 am – noon. We are studying II Thessalonians. Please join us as we meet in the fellowship hall at 11:00 to grow in God’s Word.

Wednesday evening Bible Class begins Sept. 8 at 7:45pm. We will study I Corinthians.

Thursday morning Bible Class meets at 10:00 am.

Voyager Village Bible Class: A number of members and friends of our congregation live in the Voyager Village area northwest of Spooner. We offer a Bible Class in that area to make it easier for more people to attend. We next meet September 7 and 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Alan & Jan Niedfeldt (28402 Kilkare Rd. – phone: 259-7203). If you live out in that area or know people who do, please join us and invite others to come.

Bible Information Class (a 16-week course covering all the main teachings of the Bible) is also available whenever there is interest.

Education Sunday will be held Sunday, September 12.

Walking Together Sunday is scheduled for September 26.

Humidity is the enemy of copy machines! During these warm and humid months be sure to keep copy paper sealed in its original wrapping or in plastic bags.

The Fall LWMS Rally will be on Saturday, October 16, at Redeemer in Rice Lake. Registration begins at 9:30am with a start time of 10:00am. The mission speaker is Paul Snamiska of Christian Life Resources. We will be collecting baby quilts to send to various centers supported by CLR. We will collect regular quilts and baby hats for CAMM if available, as well as devotion materials for Institutional Ministries. We sent 10 quilts to Lusaka, Zambia, 8 to the mission in Arizona and 8 to Milwaukee.

Plans are being made to prepare 100 "Busy Bags" at the Fall Rally. These bags will contain games and books for small children and will be sent to pregnancy centers for mothers to use to keep their children occupied. We are looking for coloring books, colors, books or a small toy or game. Remember to keep it appropriate for a young child and a Bible theme would be preferred.

We will also have a list of items to donate and will be asking congregations to bring one of these items (so we have enough for 100 bags) to the Rally. At the Rally, we will take time to fill each bag.

Also new for the Fall Rally is that each congregation provides an inspirational thought or quote to speak during role call. Our speaker's theme is 'God's Word in My Life' based on John 9:3. How wonderful to share some thoughts on how God's Word works in our lives.

Free Rummage Event: We are planning our next free rummage event the third week-end in September. We are especially in need of houseware or kitchen items. We will be looking for help setting up and organizing donations. If you have any comments or questions contact Kevin King, Evangelism Chair.

Difficulty hearing the sermon? Ask for an assisted listening device for a little boost in volume during our worship services. If you would like to try one out, please tell Pastor or an usher.

Children’s Bell Choir: We would like to form a children’s bell choir. Last year we practiced for 15 minutes each Sunday morning. This year we would like to have practice on Saturdays for at least an hour. Practice would begin Saturday, Sept. 25th. Our first Sunday to ring would be October 24th. The next service to ring would be at our children’s Christmas Eve service. The third would be on Easter Sunday. Please let me know by Sunday, Sept. 19th if your child/ren ages 4-11 would be interested. Practice time is to be determined (possibly 10-11am or 1-2pm).

Glenview volunteers needed: Every other Friday afternoon for over ten years Beautiful Savior has conducted a hymnsing at Glenview, from 2:30-3:00pm. Typically, Pastor Jahnke reads Scripture selections, and volunteers pass out song sheets for the six hymns we sing. We are in need of more volunteers. Please let Pastor know if you are interested in helping.

Technology Committee: The Council has approved forming a Technology Committee to help us make better use the ever-changing tools available to us for ministry. For instance, there is much more we can do with our website. We can better use email to share information. If you have an interest in this area, contact Pastor or Gary Dunsmoor.

The price for an arrangement is $20.00. Please see Sharon Baker or Peggy McKibben if you have any questions.

Communion: If you have difficulty walking and would like to receive Lord’s Supper where you’re sitting, just ask Pastor or an usher.

Coupons are available in the church kitchen. Take ones you can use. Bring ones you don’t need.

Choir Time Is Here Again!  Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, September 8, at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited! If you enjoy singing (even if you can’t read a note!), please prayerfully consider serving our Lord in song. The more voices, the stronger the message comes through the songs! The only requirement is a desire to make a joyful noise! Come and share your love for our Lord and enjoy Christian fellowship. No previous musical experience is necessary. Contact Pastor, any choir member, or Elaine Bullens for more information.

A Joint Pastoral Conference will be hosted by Beautiful Savior on October 4-5. Between 35-40 men are expected to attend. We will  be providing breakfast, lunch, and supper on Monday and breakfast on Tuesday. The menus are being finalized. Sign-up sheets will be posted soon to provide salads and desserts. Monetary donations would be appreciated to defray the cost of the main dishes. Helping hands will be needed to serve and clean up each meal. More information will be coming soon.

Preschool News-:

Pre-school enrollment for the coming school year is still available for the 4-year-old class (you may be put on a waiting list for the 3-year-old class). Monthly tuition rates remain at $70 for the 3-year-old class (2 mornings/week) and $100 for the 4-year-old class (3 mornings/week). Registration is $40. If you know of children for the 4-year-old class, talk to Pastor or Mrs. McQuade.

From the Teacher: School is back in session! Our first day will be September 1; and we have a total enrollment of 13 children, eight in the 3/4 year-old class and five in the 4/5-year-old class. Our parent meeting was held August 23 with 30 family members and students present.

Many, many thanks to Kristen Sexton, Annette Rech, Sam and Julie McQuade, and my mom Marlene Swearingen for helping with watching siblings and students during our meeting!

Please continue to keep the Pre-school in your prayers, and thank you for your continued support!

God’s Blessings to all, Mrs. McQuade
